I spend far too much time browsing the internet, and so my sister (
) suggested a Substack - my findings might as well go somewhere useful. These will be musings of things I’ve seen on social, in shops, Pinterest, and generally how I’m feeling each week - which by the looks of things is loafers, cardigans and a lot of denim. So far, so me - I hate looking too ‘done’.
Next, here’s what I’ve found this week that made my wee heart twitch!
I found this tote bag via
. Designed in Sydney, but made in Portugal, is there a better combination? Clearly Haulier is popular, all of their bags are now sold out, but I will be keeping an eye out for a re-stock!
Brut Archives - an incredibly cool Parisian brand that has just been picked up by the Merci buyers. I found via
, my favourite person to follow at the moment. Their long sleeves are particularly thick, and when styled with preppy clothes, won’t make you look like a biker chick (unless that’s your vibe). The Row SS25 - always an inspiration and currently behind my hunt for a well-priced silk and lace top. The closest so far is Dôen but $258 is excessive for a quick trend.
I’m picky with socks - I want ribbed that are thick but not too thick that you can’t wear with loafers, and could also wear with boots. Tricky, but Colourful Standard have done it.
I have these M&S leather loafers, and a good dupe for The Row version, with the front ruching and thin soles - all in the details.
I really want pretty much everything from Perfect White Tee. Designed and produced in LA, it’s got that Californian feel. It’s surprisingly difficult to find a vest top that is 1. bra friendly (who wants to show bra straps with a racerback - it’s ugly), and 2. not so long that it bunches up in your jeans (why are vest tops so long?!) - enter the Blondie tank.
Buttoned-up, high rise, straight leg jean in a denim that’s not too blue. Also long enough to not sit cropped at the ankles (which is now outdated). I love these from Massimo Dutti.
These will be trendy this summer, and gone the next, so spending more than £25 seems silly. H&M have delivered, in multiple colours. The red would be so cool too.
I’ve been trying out my baking skills lately on canelés, using this recipe, after I was given a tray for Christmas. They’re slightly tricky and not something you whip up without notice, but they look fancy and they taste great.
Another firm and long-term favourite of mine,
recently posted this on a trip to Milan, and I can’t admit how fast I started looking up blue cotton shirts. I ended up with this one from H&M. I hate poplin, I do not want to hear myself as I move in a shirt, it just feels uncomfortable and like I’m going for an interview at a corporate bank for a job I don’t want - rant over. But Oxford, they’re soft. Lucy has styled this quite fitted, which I really like, but the small was sold out so I went for a medium, which is a bit more oversized. But, as a size 12, a medium probably is better anyway so I get more wear out of it.
If you’ve got this far, thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed it! I’ve used ShopMy for the links, which means that I could receive a kick-back on some of them, on the off-chance that I have inspired you to purchase.
